Have you ever felt like you were built for the time you’re living in? Like you can’t imagine yourself in another time because you probably wouldn’t survive it?
I feel that way. God knew to put me here, right now, just like He knew to put you here, right now, if you’re reading this.
I don’t know why I have this love for creativity, learning new things, taking risks, and walking by faith. I can’t really explain it.
I understand skill sets and tool sets. I understand tenacity. I understand that failure can be a good thing. The more I keep going, the more I learn. And when I learn something, I pivot.
There were certain times in history when we didn’t have access to the things we have today. Now, you can build a website in a day, sell products you created, and make a lot of money.
Think about that for a minute.
I used to work 50 hours a week for $50,000 a year, trying to raise a family. Then I created a product that made $70,000 a month.
That still blows my mind.
But I also love the fact that I’ve experienced different seasons of life. I know what it’s like not to have money. I know what it’s like to go through years of just not having enough. And I know what it’s like to live with more than enough.
I’ve decided I want to be rich, and I don’t want to be poor.
But I don’t want to be rich in a way that only serves me. Honestly, it doesn’t take a whole lot to make me happy.
I love knowing that I can spend money with a family that owns a business. Maybe there’s someone who owns a cleaning service that I can hire. The person who owns the laundry service comes to pick up my clothes, washes them, folds them, and delivers them.
And whatever I’m paying for that service, I know I’m giving money to someone who is building something of their own.
Do you see where I’m going with this?
It’s not about having money just for the sake of having money. It’s about what I can do with it. It’s about being able to do more, give more, and create opportunities for other people.
And I’ve lived both sides of that.
It’s something I think about all the time. If you can create something that serves people, if you can solve a problem, you’ll never have to worry about finding ways to create value.
We live in a time when you don’t have to go to school for eight years to become something that only makes $100,000 a year. We don’t live in that time anymore.
We live in a time when whatever your expertise is, you can put it on display immediately. You can share what you know, solve problems, and create something that people are willing to pay for.
I also want to leave you with this thought.
It’s amazing to me that growing up, I looked at money like a slice of pizza instead of a garden.
With a pizza, you have slices. Once you give those slices away, there are fewer slices left.
But a garden is different. You plant a seed, and that seed can grow into something that produces more seeds. It keeps multiplying.
And it’s amazing to me that God set it up that way.
Changing your mindset can change your life.
