Spectator

Nov 2, 2026

This one might hit a few nerves.

I am always cheering for the person who starts something and keeps going after it every single day.

It’s not that they don’t experience failure. They just understand that failure comes along with the journey and the process. They understand that if you’re going to accomplish anything, you have to be willing to get in the game.

But then you have the spectator.

Before I go any further, let’s talk about what a spectator is.

A spectator is someone who watches what’s happening from the sidelines instead of actually being in the game. They observe, they have opinions, and they talk about what they see, but they never put themselves in a position to participate.

And you see this in everyday life, but you also see it in business.

Have you ever noticed the person who refuses to leave a comfortable job they hate, but has no problem criticizing the person who decided to start a business?

Hold on. Wait a minute.

You didn’t even think I could do it. Now that I’m actually doing it, instead of encouraging me, you want to criticize me?

More people deal with this than you realize.

See, there’s something different about the person who gets in the game. They don’t just spectate. They don’t just talk about what they want to do. They’re actually working. They’re getting their hands dirty. They’re learning new skills, making mistakes, taking risks, and figuring things out along the way.

They aren’t just dreaming about what they’re going to do. They’re actually doing it. They’re starting something.

And that’s the difference between a spectator and a participant.

Spectators watch other people make moves. Participants make moves themselves.

So don’t spend your life being a spectator. Get in the game.

It doesn’t matter if it’s the game of life or the game of entrepreneurship. Be a part of it.

Life was meant to be lived and experienced, not just watched from the sidelines.
